Indonesia’s leading male tennis player Christopher Rungkat made history, successfully for the first time won the ATP title. Race in the men’s doubles number, paired with Swedish tennis player Andre Goransson, Christo managed to become the best at the Maharashtra Open ATP Tournament in Pune India, Sunday (09/02).
In the final of the ATP Tour 250 tournament, the pair Christo and Andre managed to win over the third seeded pair Jonathan Erlich (Israel) and Andrei Vasilevski (Belarus) 6-2.3-6.10-8.
As reported by the official website of the ATP Tour, Christo and Andre, who entered the non-seeded, managed to save six of the seven breakpoints in the match. One forehand to return Christo, then ensure that the pair won the championship trophy, after competing for 71 minutes.
ATP Tour 250 in Pune India is Christo’s fifth appearance paired with Andre Goransson. The second best result before, was runner up at Hyogo Noah, Challenger in Kobe Japan. In 2019, Christo also succeeded in reaching the final round of the ATP Sofia Open, when paired with Taiwanese Hsieh Cheng Peng.
“We feel very happy as you can see at the end of the match. I don’t believe this, but it happened,” Christo said.
Christo added, that he also felt satisfied, partnered with Andre and got the most out of good cooperation.
“We came here and experienced a tight first round match. After that, we felt extraordinary (during) the tournament,” he said.
