Indonesia made sure to take part in the 2019 ANOC Beach Games after successfully escaping 12 athletes from 3 sports. The three sports are: Women’s 3X3 Basketball, men’s Beach Volley 4×4 and men’s and women’s Karate word numbers. Although not yet maximally expected, this participation is expected to benefit a number of benefits for Indonesia.
ANOC Beach Games 2019 is the largest beach sports party in the world which is held at Gharafa Beach Complex Doha, Qatar on 9-17 October. In total there were 1240 athletes from 97 countries in the world who passed the qualifying round, and Indonesia was included.
When compared to the total number of players, the number of athletes sent by Indonesia is relatively small. Moreover, Indonesia had successfully won the overall title at the 2008 Asian Beach Games in Bali last. At that time the Red and White Team donated 214 athletes and spawned 51 medals (23 gold, 8 silver, 20 bronze).
Although it is still minimal, but Plt. Secretary General of the Indonesian Sports Committee (KOI), Hellen Sarita Delima, hopes that 12 athletes will be able to excel in the inaugural event of the ANOC Beach Games. So as to be able to open the way for other athletes to participate in the next events.
“We have successfully passed three sports to the 2019 ANOC World Beach Games. We hope there will be other sports that will follow so that Indonesia’s chances of getting a medal are greater,” said Hellen quoted from nysnmedia.com.
While diving and drinking water, this event also became a self-honing medium for 12 athletes who competed. The tight competition with world-class athletes will be a valuable experience for looking at the next competition. Especially for athletes who will be included in the 2019 Philippines SEA Games and the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
