Suzanna Wibowo, First Woman Professional Tennis Player From Indonesia

In the history of Indonesia’s participation in the Asian Games, Suzanna Wibowo’s name is hard to forget. The reason, Suzanna had donated 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals from the tennis fields contingent. The woman who was born on November 25th, 1963 won this gold at the Asian Games in 1986 and 1990.

Both Suzanna’s gold medals came from the women’s double. The woman by the name of Suzan Anggarkusuma won gold with her partner, Yayuk Basuki. Even in the 1986 Asian Games, the gold medal achieved by both was the only gold medal achieved by Indonesia at the time.

Unlike Yayuk Basuki, Suzana’s achievements are not particularly prominent at the world level. But for Indonesia Suzana is a mainstay, including when a member of the national team of Indonesian women who dropped in the Federation Cup, for almost 22 years. She was a first Indonesian woman tennis player who played in the pro tournament.
