The Indonesian contingent who competed in the Youth Olympic Games 2018 which takes place in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina finally got results. One bronze medal was obtained from the weightlifting sport branch.
The medalist is a female athlete named Nur Vinatasari. Vina is the nickname, won the bronze medal when she contested in the 53rd kilogram female class.
Vina won the bronze medal with a record 162 kilograms. While the gold medal in this class won by an athlete named Baltag Sabina from Romania with a force of 177 Kg. While silver belongs to Junkar Acero athlete from Colombia with a force of 176 Kg.
Nur Vina, an athlete who was born in Pringsewu, Lampung, July 5th, 2001, had experienced a problem, one day before the game, due to her increasing weight. But thanks to her strong determination and extraordinary desire, she was able to restore weight in an ideal position and finally won a bronze medal. This bronze medal is the first achieved by Indonesia.
“I am proud, I hope that it can be a motivation for other Indonesian young people to be able to give the best to the nation and the country,” Vina said from Tempo.co (07/10/18).
The Youth Olympic Games is a prestigious event among young people aged 14 to 18 years and is one of the parameters to go to the next level, senior class.
The Chef de Mission Indonesia Team of YOG, Dito Ario, expressed his joy at the results achieved by the athlete. Dito also said the achievement matched the results of the Olympic Game 2014 in Nanjing, China.
“These results match the achievements of the previous YOG 2014 in Nanjing, China, and hope to grow again, there are several more sports that has the potential to bring the nation’s name to prominence” he said.
The Youth Olympic Games 2018 takes place in Argentina starting October 6th, 2018 and will end the day after tomorrow on October 18th, 2018. The Olympic Games compete with 32 branches with 241 numbers.
