Torch’s Long Journey of the Asian Games 2018


The fire torch long journey was taken at the Asian Games 2018. The torch’s flame will ignite the calderon at the opening of the Asian Games 2018, August 18th, 2018 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, until the closing of September 2nd, 2018.

The Asian Games 2018’s Fire Torch is taken from two eternal fires. That is the eternal fire that ignited in India as the place where the first Asian Games were held and the eternal fire from Indonesia as the host. In India, eternal fire comes from Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. While in Indonesia, eternal fire taken from Mrapen, Central Java.

The fire originates from India brought using a Boeing 737 400 aircraft belonging to the Air Force using a gas-fueled Tinder Box. The aircraft carrying the torch was escorted by 5 Golden Eagle T-50 fighters from India to Jogjakarta. After arriving in Jogjakarta, the torch was passed on by the Indonesian badminton hero, Susi Susanti.

At Prambanan Temple, eternal fire from India puts together with eternal fire taken from Mrapen, Grobogan, Central Java. After being put together, the Asian Games’s torch flame was taken around Indonesia for 2 months. The Asian Games’s torch flame passed 54 cities and counties in 18 Indonesian provinces and traveled 18,000 KM.

After a very long journey, the Asian Games 2018’s torch flame will arrive in Jakarta on Indonesia’s Independence Day, August 17th, 2018.
