The government inaugurated the Special Sports School (SKO) which is built in the city of Solo. The school is specifically for athletes with disabilities and is the first school in Indonesia.
The school under the auspices of the Sembada Insan Foundation was inaugurated by the Youth and Sports Organization (Menpora) Imam Nahrawi, Thursday (20/12). The school which is also a dormitory is located in the Karangasem area of Solo City.
Quoted from Bola.com, the school which now has 22 students at the junior and senior high school level is the long aspirations of the President. Apart from being a place for practicing athletes, this school is a symbol of resistance to discrimination.
“Thanks for the long aspirations of the President, not to discriminate against all Indonesian citizens. This is the first time in Indonesia, there is no place for discriminators. There should be no discrimination for persons with disabilities. “This Sports Special School will be the crater of Candradimuka to accommodate Indonesia’s future athletes,” Imam Nahrawi explained.
Total of 4 sports are provided at this school, which are swimming, athletics, table tennis and badminton.
