The Executive Board of the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PB PBSI) has selected the 20 best athletes to represent the Indonesian Team at the 2020 Asian Team Badminton Championship, on 11-16 February 2020 in the Philippines.

The Badminton Asian Team Badminton Championship or the Badminton Asia Team Championship, will take place at the Memorial Coliseum, Manila. This event will also be used as a qualification round for the Thomas and Uber Cup, which is planned to be held in May 2020.

In the last two editions of the Asian Team Championship, the men’s Indonesian Team has always been able to be the best.

This time the Indonesian national team was strengthened by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonathan Christy in the single sector. Whereas the double number will be filled with world number one and two pairs, Kevin Sanjaya / Marcus Gideon, and Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan

“This Badminton Asia Team Championships is warming up before the Thomas and Uber Cups. We field the best team, for chances, the men’s team has greater opportunities. The important target here is to qualify for the Thomas and Uber Cup final, then to establish a superior position for the team,” said Susy Susanti, head of the Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI, in the official PBSI release.
“This tournament is included in the race to Olympic points too, so we really pay attention here. We want to perform optimally in all championships, but there is a priority scale, this is a strategy,” Susy added.
While on the women’s team, the name of a potential young player Putri Kusuma Wardani successfully entered the first team. Putri is a junior player born on June 20, 2002. While the name Fitriani is not included in the first team, exactly as it did two years earlier.
“All the best arrangements, except in the women’s singles without Fitriani because of her confidence, she’s dropping, if we force her and she loses again, she can be frustrated. Now if there is more improvement in training, until she is ready, hopefully she can pass. The coaching team also wants send the young ones first for experience, “Susy explained.
