Since 1933, New Delhi City has a quite large stadium by the name of National Stadium. In the stadium which is a gift from the Maharaja of Bhavnagar,The first Asian Games was opened on March 4th, 1951. The Asian Games was opened by Indian president at the time, Rajendra Prasad.

As the grandest stadium at that time, National Stadium has multifunction, because all the matches of the 11th branches that competed in the first Asian Games are held in this stadium. The construction of the stadium was built by Anthony S. De Millo and was opened by Lord Wilingdon.

Currently, the stadium which given 5 bronze medals for Indonesia in 195given the name of Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Currently, the capacity andstadium usage has been much reduced after undergoing renovation.With capacity around 16.0000 audience, National Stadium become a stadium for field hockey’s match.
