Indonesian NOC President Supports Postponement of the Olympics

The President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) from Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari fully supports the postponement of the 2020 Olympics. The XXXII Olympics should be held in Tokyo City, Japan on July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the growing conditions in the world, the Olympics were postponed until the summer of 2021.

Okto explained, the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was of course taken after considering many things. Of course, the most important thing is to protect the athlete who competed at the four-yearly Games.

“The interests and safety of athletes above all else,” said Okto when contacted on Wednesday (3/25/2020) from Jakarta.

The IOC made the decision to postpone the implementation of the 2020 Summer Olympics. This decision is related to the spread of the Corona virus which has hit many countries and cannot be controlled.

For Indonesia, this decision has a positive side. Raja revealed, this delay gave Indonesian athletes more time to make better preparations.

“We also see the positive side that there is more time to prepare and hopefully the chances of getting a medal are getting bigger,” Okto said
