The Indonesian contingent managed to improve the number of gold medals at the 2019 SEA Games. At this SEA Games, the Indonesian contingent managed to collect 72 gold, 84 silver and 111 bronze. The gold medal obtained this year almost doubled what they got in Malaysia in 2017. In addition, Indonesian athletes managed to pass the gold medal set by the government, which was 60 gold medals. This means that the Indonesian team won the gold medal this time by 12 pieces more than the target.
With this achievement, Indonesia finally won 4th place in the final standings for the 2019 SEA Games medal. The position in the Philippines is one level better than the final ranking obtained at the 2017 SEA Games held in Malaysia. In the final standings for the 2019 SEA Games medal, Indonesia is under the host of the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
The 2019 SEA Games will end on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. A closing ceremony held at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium will be held as a symbol of the end of the Southeast Asian Games which takes place every two years. Two years from now, the 2021 SEA Games will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
