Indonesia’s badminton world is back on track. This time, they brought home two championships from the 2019 French Open to the country. These two titles were presented from the mixed doubles and men’s doubles numbers, Sunday (10/27). Indonesia passed its players to the final in 3 numbers.
In the mixed doubles, the pair Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti managed to frustrate the resistance of the mixed world number one from China, Zheng Siwei / Huang Yaqiong at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, Paris France. The Indonesian pair won 22-24, 21-16, and 21-12.
The second title was won by Indonesia through its flagship partner in the men’s doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo who managed to defeat Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty from India. In just 34 minutes, the couple who are familiarly called Minions won 21-18 and 21-16.
In the men’s singles number, Indonesia failed to win the title after Jonatan Christie had to recognize the superiority of Chinese men’s singles, Cheng Long.
