The Philippines will host the Southeast Asian sporting event or the SEA Games in November to December 2019. As a host, you can be sure they will work hard as hard as they can so that their country can be the best.
Some leading sports branches can be sure the Philippines will work extra to get the most medals. As with the pencak silat sports at the Asian Games last August, the host Indonesia won the most gold medals. But that will not happen again on the upcoming SEA Games. The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) said Indonesia could not impose its mainstay sports in the Sea Games 2019 in the Philippines in November-December 2019.
“We certainly cannot force the sport to the Sea Games host, because if we are the host, we certainly do not want to hold a sport that does not benefit us,” said Chairman of the KOI Sports Development Commission, Harry Warganegara, quoted from (31/10/18).
Harry said the Sea Games 2019 committee had included non-Olympic sports, such as jetski, vovinam, and billiards, in addition to the main sports, which is swimming and athletics.
“We are grateful that the pencak silat branch has also been socialized at the Southeast Asian level because the Philippines do not have a local martial arts branch,” said Harry about Indonesia’s pencak silat opportunities in the 30th Sea Games.
The multi-sport event at the Southeast Asian level is certainly safe considering that the President strongly supports the event.
“Domestically, the organization will be safe because President Duterte also supports the SEA Games in the Philippines,” Harry added.
Harry claimed the Olympic committee of Southeast Asian countries will hold a meeting in the Philippines in November related to the determination of the Sea Games 2019 sports branch.
“I don’t know, maybe November can still be held. There must be consideration from the host why they want to have it in November-December. It might coincide with their big day, “said Harry about the time of the Sea Games in the rainy season in Southeast Asia.
