Three Indonesian athletics athletes, are being prepared by the Executive Board of the All Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI) to be able to show their best abilities at the 2030 Asian Championships in Hangzhou China, on 12-13 February. The three names prepared are: Then Muhammad Zohri (men’s 100 meters), Emilia Nova (women’s 100 meters goal) and Sapwaturahman (men’s long jump).
As reported by Medcom, that PB PASI Secretary General Tigor Tanjung stated that Sapwa and Emilia were sent to the Asian championship, in order to increase their chances of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
“Emilia and Sapwa’s chances of escaping are indeed tough, but we continue to try,” he said.
So far, Indonesia has only secured one athletic branch ticket to the 2020 Olympics through Zohri. The 20-year-old sprinter made it to Tokyo, after successfully finishing in third place, at the Osaka Golden Grand Prix with a time of 10.03 seconds.
Meanwhile, Emilia, whose best record in 100 meters hurdles is 13.33 seconds, must break the 12.84 seconds limit to qualify for the 2020 Olympics. Then, Sapwa must be able to penetrate 8.22 meters to qualify. Until now, Sapwa’s best jump was 8.03 meters which he created when he won the 2019 Philippines SEA Games gold.
