The Executive Board of the All Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI) stated that one of the requirements for the re-Pelatnas was to hold swab tests for athletes, also known as polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
According to the Secretary General of PB PASI Tigor Tanjung, these conditions were set directly by World Athletics (world athletic federation) for each state federation wishing to hold training in the new normalcy period.
The examination utilizing PCR technically is one of the tests that is able to detect the presence of Covid-19 virus. The inspection is done by collecting swabs (swabs) from the upper respiratory tract.
Examination using the polymerase chain reaction technique (PCR) is one of the tests to detect coronavirus. This examination is done by collecting swabs from the upper respiratory tract ie the nose, mouth and throat.
“To practice yes (must do a swab test). World Athletics requests a PCR test. We must socialize with athletes and coaches first,” Tigor said, as quoted by Medcom.
Therefore, Tigor itself has not been able to ascertain yet, when Pelatnas could be held again, given the high cost of the swab test.
Previously, from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, had issued a health protocol to hold national sports activities. The issuance of these rules and guidelines is expected by the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali to be a solution for sportsmen who want to immediately return to Pelatnas.
It’s just that before getting the Pelatnas permit, the Ministry of Youth and Sports requires sports to be able to submit a compilation of program plans and formulation of health protocols to be assessed first.
“We will see. If it is okay, we will allow it, otherwise we will ask for a revision,” Zainudin said.
Tigor said, that PB PASI itself until now also continues to formulate more detailed guidelines, and adapted to the existing protocols, both from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the World Federation of Athletics. If the guide has been completed and received the green light from the government, it will be able to immediately call back athletes who are now practicing independently, to undergo Pelatnas at the Bung Karno Madya Stadium.
