The Indonesian Team’s young karate athletes have made proud achievements. It is Faiz Zahran Zinedine, who has succeeded in making Indonesia proud in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic that has not subsided. Karateka from Bogor City, successfully won the world champion at the 2020 Russian Athletes Tournament.
Faiz managed to become number one in the U-12 individual word class. The student, who is still in fifth grade elementary school, beat Polish athlete Filip Torecki in the top party.
“Alhamdulillah Faiz has succeeded in making Indonesia proud. Faiz ‘hard struggle has paid off,” said Andre, Faiz’s parent at Kayu Manis, Tanah Sareal, Bogor City, Friday (14/8/2020), as reported by Wartakota.com
Andre said that every day Faiz is very diligent in practicing, both at home and at the Pajajaran Sports Hall on weekends. This hard work also paid off. Faiz was able to appear consistently from the initial round to the final, in this virtual tournament.
“It is different to compete in a live and virtual arena. However, Faiz has high enthusiasm. His training is not playing games, so he can appear focused and concentrated to the final and champion round” said Andre.
Andre added, in the world tournament, no less than 29 countries took part. Such as France, UK, Germany, India, Ireland and many more. There are 32 classes contested there.
“In the first series Faiz won the U-12 second place. He lost to Puerto Rico, Angel Perez. So in one tournament he participated in two classes. Faiz won gold and silver medals,” said Andre.
So far, Faiz himself is a member of the Padjadjaran Sports Center (GOR) club in Bogor City, and also under the care of the Bogor Karate Do Indonesia Institute (INKAI).
Meanwhile, the Pajajaran GOR club in Bogor City won second place in the Athletes E-Tournament World 2020 E-Kata Tournament. The Pajajaran Sports Club won three gold, three silver and three bronze.
