The success of the mixed team of the Indonesian Team for badminton, Praveen Jordan / Melati Oktavianti won the All England 2020, it is hoped that their coach Nova Widiarto did not make both immediately satisfied. The pair’s young age was considered by Nova to still be difficult to maintain consistency, based on experience from the previous year.
“Before All England, they were champions in Denmark, France and the SEA Games in 2019. After that, the Praveen / Melati game was very different,” Nova Widianto was quoted as saying in the PBSI official release.
“I advised, sometimes they run out of champions like they don’t let their guard down. Don’t let your guard down, especially Praveen, he has quality, but sometimes he doesn’t let his guard down. Praveen once won the All England 2016 after that he disappeared,” Nova Widianto said.
Praveen / Melati, successfully won the All England 2020, after defeating the Thai couple Dechapol Puavarnukroh / Sapsiree Taerattanachai, on Sunday (3/15) in Birmingham, England. Praveen / Train the fifth seeded capital wins in three sets with a score of 21-15, 17-21 and 21-8 in 62 minutes.
After winning the All England Open 2020, Praveen / Train must be able to maintain the consistency of the game and achievements until the upcoming 2020 Olympics. The target, according to Nova Widiarto, is that these two foster children can maintain a mental match, because it is a big factor to be champions.
“In terms of preparation, we are not surprised by the success of Praveen / Melati champions of All England. We are very serious in preparing everything,” said Nova Widianto.
“If the mindset can continue like this, they have very good potential going forward. We are not talking about the championship because sometimes we also need luck,” Nova added.
After winning the All England 2020, it is still unknown, what other tournament Praveen / Melati can take. Because, BWF has taken the decision to stop all tournaments after All England, due to the corona virus outbreak. The postponement of many international tournaments, which makes the continuation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualification is in question.
It’s just that, referring to the existing rules, Praveen / Melati, is Indonesia’s first mixed doubles pair who have qualified for the 2020 Tokkyo Olympics. This refers to their ranking in the world which could not have been shifted from the top 8, until the end of the qualification 26 April 2020.
