Decision Of the World Badminton Federation or BWF to postpone the implementation of the 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup, receiving appreciation from the Indonesian Badminton Center Board (PBSI).

Previously, BWF had confirmed that it would postpone the implementation of the 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup until 2021.

Previously, one of the most prestigious team events in badminton would be held in Aarhus Denmark on 3-11 October 2020.

It’s just that, because many participating countries, including Indonesia decided to withdraw from the Thomas and Uber Cup 2020, because the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world had not yet improved. Finally, BWF also confirmed that it would postpone the annual championship.

PP PBSI also thanks BWF for this decision, that it should be, the health and safety of players and stakeholders is the main thing that must be considered.

The decision to postpone this postponement was in line with PP PBSI’s expectations, when they finally decided to withdraw from the Thomas and Uber Cup tournaments some time ago.

“We are grateful that in the end BWF is able to understand the concerns and anxieties of athletes and other badminton stakeholders about the condition of Covid-19 which has not been resolved properly, in Indonesia and in implementing or participating countries,” said Secretary General of PP PBSI Achmad Budiharto, quoted from Badminton Indonesia, as quoted from Bolasport.com.

The postponement of the schedule for implementing the Thomas and Uber Cup 2020 next year also ensures that the Indonesian Team has another chance to take part again.

As the first seed, in the Thomas Cup, the Indonesian men’s team also has a great opportunity to bring home the championship trophy.
