In 2018, Indonesia hosted two sports parties that were participated by Asian countries. First, Indonesia hosted the Asian Games, which were held successfully between August 18th and September 2nd, 2018. Besides being successful as an organizer, Indonesia also achieved success as a participant. The target of 16 gold and occupy the top 10 successfully surpassed with 31 gold and occupies the fourth position of the final medal acquisition standings.
After being treated of Asia’s biggest sports party, Indonesia will again hold another Asian sports party, the Asian Games para games 2018. This sporting event is a sporting event attended by people with disabilities, and will be held in Jakarta , October 6th until October 13th, 2018. The Asian Para Games 2018 is party’s third edition. The previous Asian Para Games event was held in Guangzhou, China and Incheon, South Korea. Unlike the Asian Games, the Asian Para Games are organized under the supervision of the Asian Paralympic Committee.
Before being named Asian Para Games, this competition was named FESPIC Games or Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled. The FESPIC Games were first held in 1975 in Oita Japan. Indonesia itself has hosted FESPIC Games. This happened in 1986, and the city of Solo had the honor of hosting this sports party.
The last FESPIC was held in 2006 in Kuala Lumpur. After that, the competition changed its name to the Asian Games which was first held in Guangzhou, China in 2010. Since then, the Asian Para Games have been held at the same time and place as the Asian Games.
As many as 43 Asian countries will participate in the 2018 Asian Games this time. They will contend and compete in 18 sports which are divided into 582 numbers. Indonesia itself will reduce about 300 athletes and target to be in the top 7 medal acquisition standings.
